STAR OF AMERICA

Return to Yacht Gallery

This 130 ft luxury yacht is the only grand yacht in NY Harbor that was built as a true private yacht. As a U.S. Coast Guard certified yacht, it is host to social and corporate events of up to 149 guests plus 16 crew. The yacht has 3 decks - all available to our guests. The yacht's interior on the main deck features a luxurious salon with sophosticated furnishings, a baby grand piano and a full bar. Back to stern is a cozy retreat with a fireplace and large screen television. An aft veranda with outdoor seating extends further back. The dining deck below offers a spacious, elegant dining area, large mahogany bar and a wooden dance floor. The decor is sophisticated and upscale. A second aft veranda is available on this deck as well. The expansive upper deck is ideal for lounging yacht-style and viewing NYC’s amazing skyline on a sunny day or a starry night.

A "Star of America" for all people on 9/11

On 9/11, Star of America was berthed at the World Financial Center.  When the World Trade Center was destoryed, the yacht was covered with debris. Fortunately, the crew that was on the yacht was safely evacuated by the Harbor Police. Just before the crew was allowed to return during that afternoon, three firemen removed the flag from the Star of America and raised it at Ground Zero... as seen in the famous photograph taken by Thomas E. Franklin of the Bergen Record.  The photograph is now a U.S. postage stamp.
